Travel Memories: Matsuyama Japanese

I'm already thinking about the next trip to Japan. It will be difficult to visit many places as we did last summer, indeed. I would like to concentrate on visits Tokyo area, so no crazy travel from town to town! What is almost certain (never say never) is that we're not going to Matsuyama, a city that has remained in my heart. Tokyo is about 950 km. The most beautiful part is when you cross the bridge to get to Shikoku!

At Matsuyama's like being in another Japan. The comparison with the Tokyo or Osaka reduced to a small country town linked to traditions, and this is one of the reasons why I liked it.
The day passes, which generally are of magnetic card, here are the cards where you have to scratch off the numbers corresponding to the date.

In the back of the pass are the routes of the trams. Even if it's all in Japanese understand enough, just check the color of the lines and drawings.

This map explains what to see patterns in Matsuyama.

This brochure describes the features and specialties Mastuyama.

Masaoka Shiki is a poet born in Matsuyama in 1867.
the structure at the base of the cable car to the castle there was an exhibition devoted to this poet.

Among the typical products of Matsuyama described in the flyer:
- The noodles of five colors, the stalls of various types of stores they had, but unfortunately we have not been able to taste in restaurants because we found them! It seemed then a most characteristic product to buy that to try.
- Dessert Botchan, the three balls of various colors strung on a skewer. I tried them in the bar next to the castle and found them too sweet ...
- Hime Daruma dolls.
Daruma doll is a round, usually red, with a drawn face of a bearded man. E 'regarded as a talisman for good luck.
Hime Daruma are always round, but the face of a man or woman. It is said to have been made by the Empress Jingu Kogo, he realized that while he was at Dogo Onsen Matsuyama (he was frequents) is pregnant. These dolls were to bring good luck for the birth and health of the unborn, and they are still popular and used for the same purpose.
As we walked down the chair lift after visiting the castle, we crossed on a chair wearing a pair of Hime Daruma.

box and other gadgets

few days ago I received a wonderful gift. My colleague brought me some cookies from Japan (his wife is Japanese, when we were in Tokyo took us to a nice restaurant to eat the eel).
My happiness, biscuits in hand, has made the box!

The lid of the carton, with a beautiful drawing of a girl.

Inside cookies

Cookies eat them, meanwhile the box I used to get some gadget bought in Japan.
I put it on the dresser, next to bonsai and other strange objects ... (such as the puppet of straw hat that covers Chopper, which is not mine)

My GattoSandro immediately went to see .. .

Perhaps it is curious to know what's inside?

I put the purse in the shape of cats and other souvenirs a bit 'small I was afraid to lose (when you have a cat you never know, things disappear and do not find them anymore!)

Behind the box is a Japanese subject, but I bought a shopping mall in Nice

It is a 'Nohohon "a man who moves his head (goes to solar energy). There is also the key, but I left the package in its original state.

There are many types of Nohohon, with Hello Kitty.

My bento

The most useful (and beautiful) that I bought in Japan is the bento. They come in all shapes and sizes, mine is shaped like a bowl with double compartment and sealed. Every day I go to work with the "shack" prepared by Lore course that strives to always prepare something tasty, but since I have my bento I think everything better!

Here's today's: Japanese white rice (with parmesan cheese in addition), and spinach omelette with butter.

Below is rice, on the second course.

Closed with the cover my pap is hot for a while ', but as I warm it in the microwave when I'm hungry! Ah, of course together with chopsticks bento can not miss!

Vocab Help Level C Answer

Kyoto - Golden Pavilion, Ryoanji Temple and Inari Shrine

We stayed two nights in Kyoto, very little for a city so beautiful. We should be there at least four or five days, but for reasons of route and time you have to give up some hits do not lose any more seats. When I began to study the itinerary of the trip I entered Kyoto as a must, but never imagined it to be so great. We had to choose what to visit, and with the movement (long) bus and the heat suffered more than in other cities, was definitely the most tiring of the stages.
The station is ultra-modern, a bit 'in contrast with a city that maintains a very traditional appearance. I read that in the station restaurant food is very good but unfortunately we have not had time to try it. In exchange, the banquet with the stamp was in plain sight near the exit (in other stations was not so easy to find).

The stamp of JR Kyoto Station

One day was completely dedicated to the famous monuments, the choice shrines was difficult to see and maybe completely wrong for two reasons:
- decide to see the Golden Pavilion and the Inari Shrine on the same day makes no hope of having more time to introduce a third visit since the extremes are opposite the city;
- choose famous places like the Golden Pavilion is to immerse yourself in the crowd of tourists (Italians, French, English) that is: anything but spiritual experience ...
Still, I just chose these goals and even though it was a grind, I can say that it was worth it.

To go by bus should make the day pass
(Cost 500 yen)

As I said in the post travel the Golden Pavilion seemed more attractive in photos that do not live. And even now that I think about all the photos are spectacular. Yet there I had the same feeling, maybe the mass of tourists has taken a little 'magic, or maybe the tiredness made me see things in a strange way, who knows ...

(and a beautiful souvenir!)

From the Golden Pavilion we went to the Ryoanji Temple, because it is close (10 minute walk, but there is also the coach if the crowd does not scare you) that has been recommended more than anything else for a tempura restaurant that is located within the park. Too bad the restaurant was only open to groups who had booked, but in any case we were not so sure it was the right place ... then we have given up and opted for a tempura dinner belt sushi!
Returning to the Ryoanji Temple, admission is free if you want to walk in the park (there is a very nice pond full of lotus flowers), but to see the "Rock Garden" have to pay 500 yen. We must remove their shoes before stepping on the wooden platform and leave the shelves, then finally you get to the Zen garden.

To get to Fushimi Inari Shrine we had to cross throughout the city, go back to Kyoto Station and take the train to Inari. We have spent over an hour. The sanctuary is located just outside the station, and like almost all the temples do not pay any entry (optionally you make offers, perhaps to write and hang a votive tablet).
Despite being famous was almost deserted, probably the time (late afternoon) was right for a visit almost lonely. It 'great, you walk through the red torii along paths that seem to never end. Really fascinating, even if at some point may seem a bit 'scary as it seems to be a maze like "The Shining"! I found a video that gives an idea, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k63DA80AvHU&feature=related

Hama-Rikyu Garden

between the Bay of Tokyo and the skyscrapers of Shiodome is the Hama-Rikyu garden.
It lies at the mouth of the Sumida River and is surrounded by a moat filled with seawater from the bay of Tokyo.
Inside is a pond with a tea house.

The brochure of the garden (with stamp)

As I mentioned ( http://gattosandro-viaggiatore.blogspot.com/2010/09/viaggio-in-giappone-11-agosto-2010.html ) provide a guide at the entrance of the garden (free). Whenever you approach a place of interest (they are marked with a wooden sign that say a number and the name) the guide will beep and begins to explain facts and events related to the place where you are . It 's very interesting, plus it is also in English.

Each year the garden changes "face" and color, this is the timetable for the different flowers that can be seen depending on the time

Inside the garden there is a stop on the ferry that makes the tour on the River Sumida.
might be a good idea to get up here Asakusa. (This is the site Tokyo Cruise )

Along with the gardens of the Imperial Palace ( which I think are the most beautiful city) Hama-Rikyu is a green oasis not to be missed.
The time is from 9:00 to 17:00. Entrance costs 300 yen.

A curiosity: in the third edition of "American's Next Top Model" (you know Tyra Banks ?) The competitors are in Tokyo, and between the many photo shoots make one right in Teahouse of the Hama-Rikyu garden.
