This year I managed a few days off from work (which are public holidays and to be working are those where you work a lot longer) so we allowed ourselves a small leak in Nice , the city where I was for the first time two years ago that I love so much. (The post is the last trip here )
We left early from London by train than 7.30 December 31, and for lunch we were in Nice.
So many people, streets decorated for the holiday, shops, announcing the early closure. The thermometer marks 13 degrees!
arrived at our hotel (the old city area) announce we are proud of having been awarded the top floor room with a balcony! Too bad that is not ready, so soft backpack and go around the old city.
The narrow streets of old town.
This flower shop is beautiful (and is one of the few we could find open)
Sale of all types
low houses, narrow streets, restaurants at every turn.
the sea ... finally! Even if the sky is becoming a bit 'too cloudy I find it wonderful.
Fa chilly, but there are people on the beach. These guys are feeding the seagulls.
we go down to the beach for our last self-timer of 2010!
Among the ways of the market, there are a lot of restaurants where you can eat mussels at will. At the "Festival de la Moule" We ate two years ago, but we retreated to the second pot of mussels!
Under the marquee stalls are giving way to the tables tonight there will be New Year's Eve all over the world!
As we prepare for the evening, this is the show from our balcony.
Boardwalk Place Massena, before choosing the restaurant for dinner. They are all crowded, offer fixed price menu (from 90 to 150 €) and the prices are generally higher than 20%.
choose "The Tavern Massena" and have dinner with a pot of mussels and sausage platter with sauerkraut and potato chips! Considering that the average beer costs us € 12 each, we manage with 70 € in half.
greet the New Year with fireworks at the harbor.
Happy 2011!
Christmas lights in the Place Massena
the morning of January 1st, the city is almost deserted and shops are all closed. We find a bakery that also serves breakfast and spent the day among the shops of the old town and the Christmas markets in the center. The typical sweet
1 January
Besides being beautiful also seem very good!
The city is still asleep, we enjoy the deserted streets under a sun hot enough
With the sun, the sea It's much nicer!
Who can see the sea on New Year sees the sea all year round? Eh, maybe!
looks inviting, but it must be cold. In a crazy costume you had a good swim this morning, and when it left the water did not bat an eyelid. I died of cold just looking at him!
The colors of the winter sea
first fish of 2011
The port of Nice, the sky is overcast!
We queue for half an hour Socca (a bit 'like our porridge)
Delicious!
light lunch in our favorite pub, with tables outside
First-timer of 2011: from the terrace of our room
The Ferris wheel illuminated
Fountain Place Massena in blue ....
.... and red!
For the first dinner of 2011, we grant the excellent food at "La maison de Marie", a restaurant in the Rue Massena in which we were two years ago. We booked last night, and we did well because it's full!
Tagliatelle with truffle
The real salad Niçoise
I like these chop-chop with salt and pepper-branded Peugeot!
sole meuniere with vegetables
Agnolotti with stew (a real bomb!)
Even Sunday morning (January 2) we wake up with a bright sun. This afternoon we return to Turin, our tour is over!
From our terrace you can see the garden of the Museum of Modern Art
The blue sky is covered with dark clouds ...
This morning the city is very busy, around there a lot of people on the streets and cars in the queue trying to reach the car parks ...
In the square the fish market is in a war between gangs of seagulls! They are huge and make a crazy mess!
One last shot at Massena Square and go to the station, going home from our Sandrino!
