Travel in Japan - August 24, 2010

August 24, 2010
Today is the last day I spend in Fukuoka, so we decided not to move and enjoy a this beautiful little town.

Around Fukuoka, find a shop with these cute kittens!

Fukuoka area, near the Minami Park
This area is very elegant
The houses are beautiful

This morning we go to the zoo, as soon as you enter there the caretaker, who is giving to eat an apple a red panda. E 'tender! While the feeds she explains some of the habits of the red panda, what to eat etc.. standing while he claims his apple as a child ... Amazing! Compared to the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, here are perhaps less animals, but they seem to have more space. After around the zoo you can also visit the botanical garden, the two areas are linked by a miniature cable car (basically an elevator).

The red panda and its apple! That teddy bear!
What talkers!
A beautiful bear
The cable that connects the zoo to the botanic garden
The botanical garden
The observatory of the botanical garden
Fairy Garden!
We go back to the hotel and we refreshed from Mos Burger, which is located in front of Canal City, the most famous shopping center of Fukuoka.

I am always enchanted by the beauty of the gardens ...
... and the elegance of the houses hidden by trees!
metro stop near the zoo (the elephant)
Underground Fukuoka
Each subway line has a color, and each stop has a design that matches the main attraction of the place
Here are the Yatai parked!
Yatai These seem abandoned rather than parked! They leave them so, of course, no one touches them. In the evening, everyone returns to take his (they all sign on the roof) and the river comes alive with these kiosks where they cook pretty much everything.
In the afternoon we dedicate ourselves to a little 'healthy shopping! More than anything I absolutely need a suitcase, in our there is nothing left and my backpack is too heavy ... I find a trolley to 1000 yen, it seems a bit 'a shopping cart but the price is excellent and I take it (you prove useful).
Tonight we delay a little 'dinner because the channel in the hotel held a ceremony not to be missed: a hundred lanterns with prayers and wishes are put into the river, carried by the current slowly carries them away. The show is exciting, even if we participate only as spectators and not even know what the goddess of the small temple on the river which is dedicated to this festival.
They are beginning their preparations, hundreds of lanterns are brought to the edge of the river
They start to place the lanterns in the water
current slowly carries them
are so many
Lights, sounds and colors ... the atmosphere was something sacred and magical

For dinner we go to eat in the excellent restaurant a few nights ago (where I eat shabu-shabu). The room is full, make us sit at the counter running around the kitchen. Last night in Kyushu, we console with a memorable meal! My sushi is an indescribable goodness, I could not restrain an exclamation and the expression on my face must have been quite funny, seeing two men sitting not far from vintage men began to tell us laughing taste!
Sushi and other delicious dishes (one cup is in a tomato peeled and frozen)
thought it was a legend, but the dish of salt out of the sushi restaurant there really!
We go out and start shooting a bit 'but begins a violent storm in the hotel and go away ... just in time, has Diluvial all night.
From the hotel window watching the rain come down a bit 'of melancholy ....

try to fix things in a suitcase, are a bit 'sad because we are running out of this wonderful holiday, but also happy because tomorrow we go back aTokyo.
